Week 1532 : Hochwertige Schriftliche Prosa

Continued from Day 10717

Day 10718
Monday, 24 December 2018

Annotation 2018-12-24 013037

I got a request on this blog. I never get a request on this blog. He is referring to this post.

In other news, my DNA sample is still undelivered. 23 days. Their FAQ says to wait for 5 weeks before contacting them to ask for a replacement kit. So I will have to wait until the end of first week of January before I can contact them.

Everybody is unique and has their own desires and issues that fuel them. What about you? What keeps you going?

Finally, my secret santa gift is on the way to Illinois! I hope she likes it. $14.95 for shipping. Wtf, America?

Y2K Nostalgia: My dad was in the computer division in a government bank at the time. It was a scary time for them. He stayed at work all night of 31 December 1999. They didn’t know for sure if the data would survive. He returned at 4 AM on New Year’s Day. We were ahead of America in timezone, and US was like the pioneer in computing but for once, the US was depending on the east to find out what happens.

Cricket, Karnataka vs Railways, End of Day 3:
Karnataka (1st inning) 214 all out
Railways (1st inning) 143 all out
Karnataka (2nd inning) 290/2 declared
Railways (2nd inning) 44/1
Railways require 318 runs to win

Day 10719
Tuesday, 25 December 2018

I watched the first two episodes of Black Mirror today. What depressing shit is that?! It was too emotionally draining for me. I don’t think I will be watching any more episodes of that series for a while.

When good music ages well with the legends that made them, this happens:

Cricket, Karnataka vs Railways:
Karnataka (1st inning) 214 all out
Railways (1st inning) 143 all out
Karnataka (2nd inning) 290/2 declared
Railways (2nd inning) 185 all out
Karnataka win by 176 runs

Day 10720

Day 10721
Thursday, 27 December 2018

My secret Santa gift has been shipped! It is on its way from Tennessee to Illinois. I have no idea how far apart they are. I hope it reaches tomorrow. DNA sample still undelivered though.

I hear the Aussie summer is really peaking. I hope they have fans, unlike the silly Germans. I was here in July. I brought a battery powered fan from home this time. Summer is glorious here, I am not complaining. But when it goes in the 30s, a fan goes a long way, especially during the afternoons when there’s literally no breeze coming in through the window.

For my dear adorable Aussies, just one tip. Whenever it went over 40 (and humid, I am from the coast as well), I used wet napkins (cotton) around my neck. Try it if it gets too much. It really helps. The drying cloth cools your skin (evaporation physics), and then you wet it again.

“Australians are just British Texans.”

India (1st inning) 443/7 declared

Cricket, 🇿🇦 South Africa vs Pakistan 🇵🇰, End of Day 2:
Pakistan (1st inning) 181 all out
South Africa (1st inning) 223 all out
Pakistan (2nd inning) 190 all out
South Africa require 149 runs to win

Football:
🇮🇳 India drew Oman 🇴🇲, 0-0

Day 10722
Friday, 28 December 2018

Ich habe die Ansage im Bus gehört. Ich glaube, es sagt:

“Haltestelle Schanz. Umsteigen Möglichkeit Düsseldorf und Aachen Hauptbahnhof.”

Tinder is fun. I have no idea what we are talking about.

IMG_20181228_012434New project. Giving mythology a shot.

My secret Santa package arrived in Southaven, Mississippi. Isn’t that the opposite direction? Chicago is straight up north, right?

Mere samne wali khidki me jo chand ka tukda rehta hai, she is moving out.

A couple of my friends shared this post, so it happened upon my Facebook feed, and I went through it. Good one. But well, you know what, I beat the system. I have a network of female friends to emotionally depend on. Romance can wait.

India (1st inning) 443/7 declared

Day 10723
Saturday, 29 December 2018

The Monkey from Kishkindha + The Scion of Ikshvaku

American place names are so funny! Kansas and Arkansas are like brothers Kumbha and Nikumbha. Then there is Idaho-ho-ho and Omaha-ha-ha, Dakota and Albuquerque, Mississippi and Massachusetts. Phew. Ohio sounds like an Australian good morning greeting.

“Ohio, mate! Have you seen my roo, eh?”

Speaking of the Aussies, the on-field banter is heating up. It is more interesting to watch than anything the commentators ever have to say.

In other news, I got 24 people to flood Claire’s Messenger inbox with “Today” messages. She received her gift today.

Cricket, 🇦🇺 Australia vs India 🇮🇳, End of Day 4:
India (1st inning) 443/7 declared
Australia (1st inning) 151 all out

Sri Lanka require 429 runs to win

Day 10724
Sunday, 30 December 2018

My closest friends are all girls, which is an irony considering how shy and awkward I can be. But it helps that I talk to them so much online, when I eventually meet them for real, there is enough familiarity already it doesn’t feel like I am meeting them for the first time. I noticed that when I went to meet Spooky in Leuven last month, and Shilpamma in Amsterdam the month before.
