Just keep an eye on China and be amazed. They started in 11th in 1980. Also, watch this cool video:

Do you think minimalism is your thing?

Lauren Puffling says, “Awesome.ย I love organising as a form of procrastinating – it feels like such an achievement and you don’t have to do any actual work. But Minimalism? Yeah, I couldn’t do it. You need to find the balance between minimalism and real life that works for you.”

It is so enticing. I wish I had a minimalist lifestyle. It is not as easy as it looks though. Like the girl in the video who threw out her make up stuff and then realised it is okay to apply makeup. Minimalist does not mean forcing oneself into hippie nomadic lifestyle. Only keep what is necessary. Our surrounding is a manifestation of our state of mind (not the exact words) was the most hard hitting statement in that video.

Lauren Puffling: “That’s why uncontrolled mess or totally spartan surroundings make us feel worse.”

The Dutch are adorable: https://9gag.com/gag/az9jBNK

A bit of Dutch cricket trivia for you:

“Cricket was first seen being played on Dutch soil in the 1780s by an English traveller in Scheveningen, and by the turn of the 20th century, Dutch teams were touring England regularly. Cricket was one of the most popular sports in the Netherlands in the 19th century, surpassed since by many other sports, most notably association football. Cricket even found enough of a following to survive the German occupation of the country between May 1940 and May 1945. The sport, famously dismissed as “unmanly and un-German” and “insufficiently violent” by Adolf Hitler himself, endured thanks in no small part to the dogged enthusiasm of local players, who shrugged off the requisitioning of grounds and restrictions on weekend travel โ€“ not to mention the presence of thousands of heavily armed Nazis and the bombing of the main sports dealers in Rotterdam โ€“ to organise as many as 300 matches a year.”

The Messenger app looked a lot different this afternoon. Now it is back to how it was.

I am going to the Indo-German Symposium this afternoon. I have to dress in business casuals, whatever that means. They have set aside an hour and 15 minutes for dinner and networking. That’s going to be awkward.

“My sense of humour is like a box of chocolates. You’re clearly not getting any.”

Day 10680
Friday, 16 November 2018

German class from Monday! I paid the fee today.

I also watched Raazi. Much intense! Raazi is a “spy thriller” movie, but even though the backdrop was the 1971 war, the story showed how lives and relationships are sacrificed on both sides in the name of patriotism. In my opinion, it is the most realistic and unbiased India-Pakistan movie made by Bollywood. I loved it. They tried to portray the characters fighting for their country on either side as real people with real emotions, and how none of it seems to matter in war. What I loved was the movie did not glorify conflict, but the message was that in war there is no victory. Everybody loses. 10/10 recommend.ย Apni taraf se 8/10.

Random Statement: Count your blessings, and more importantly, bhav unhi ko do jo tumhe de.

From the uniform of my first school. The mascot is a Kamadhenu.

My playthings and my first cricket gear, and letters written by grandad to dad back in the day. The mascot of my first school is a Kamadhenu, probably chosen because “she is capable of producing fierce warriors”. The school was started in 1891 in the Victorian era British Raj, when most schools only took in children of European and Anglo-Indian families. It was started with a mission to educate children of the local community in Mangalore, because “education fulfils all desires” (school motto) and it ran on a mushtiย fund. Mushti = fist. Every household set apart a fistful of rice for the school. That was the daily fee. Mahatma Gandhi visited the school in October 1927.

I got Claire Peters for Secret Santa this year.

I neverย got matched on Tinder, so I wouldn’t know what I would say if I did. Back home, I usually started with a comment on something they mentioned in their bio.

I don’t snore.

That is what we all think, don’t we?
